"This is great! I am receiving hot meals delivered to my front door every day and on time. These meals are better tasting than our own kitchen staff was making, there is more variety in the menu, they are far more nutritious than we were doing, and I am saving over $3,000 USD every month!"
- Randy Lotter,
Director of Adoration School Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
OTB.Global builds and operates Super Kitchens for communities in need so that organizations can more effectively, more efficiently, and more sustainably feed those in poverty, suffering from hunger and malnutrition.
OTB.Global builds and operates Super Kitchens for communities in need so that organizations can more effectively, more efficiently, and more sustainably feed those in poverty, suffering from hunger and malnutrition.
Super Kitchens provide an innovative approach to supplying thousands of hot meals a day – up to 6,000 - to those most in need in the communities in which the kitchen is located to help eliminate hunger and malnutrition. This is achieved by applying a unique manufacturing approach to the production of hot meals. By doing this the Super Kitchens achieves an economy of scale that allows the meals to be produced at the lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest degree of nutritional value within a diverse menu.
Junius (Jae) Evans formed OTB.Global in 2015 as a spin-off social enterprise of the non-profit organization he founded called Outside the Bowl. Mr. Evans and his wife Debra began in 2008 in Paarl South Africa. While in South Africa the Evans saw the need to feed the children in the Xhosa community of Mbekweni where they were teaching. It was from this experience and the construction and operation of the first Super Kitchen there that Outside the Bowl began. As of the end of 2020 Outside the Bowl has built 9 Super Kitchens and operates 5 of those kitchens in three countries. Those 5 Super Kitchens have provided over 25,000,000 hot meals to those most in need who are living in the communities where the Super Kitchens are located.
In 2015 Mr. Evans saw the need to start a new social enterprise side of the business. This social enterprise affiliate of Outside the Bowl is named OTB.Global LLC. The need for this new affiliate for-profit organization came about after experiencing the problems the organization was dealing with building and operating Super Kitchens in countries outside the United States. After extensive research and legal counsel it was determined that the best approach to the problem would be to operate the Super Kitchens under the umbrella of a social enterprise organization. This also allowed the non-profit to focus exclusively on raising donations for the projects they were supporting. While OTB.Global is a relatively new legal entity the staff and experience are the same as those who built and ran all of the Outside the Bowl Super Kitchens. Today all of the Super Kitchens and all new construction and operation of Super Kitchens will come under OTB.Global.
The OTB.Global management team has successfully led the development of the organization along with building and operating the Super Kitchens located in Mexico, Haiti, and South Africa.
