A nutritious breakfast is the best way to start the day. Outside the Bowl has developed a couple of new products, SuperV Instant Meal and Vita Kidz Porridge, which are opening the doors to get children a healthy, nutritious breakfast. SuperV and Vita Kidz are a maize-based powder that when mixed with water, turns into an instant meal or porridge. Results from a nutritional analysis share that one serving of Vita Kidz Porridge has 70 percent of a young child’s daily nutritional needs and SuperV has over 100%.
How SuperV and Vita Kidz are meeting needs in South Africa and beyond?
PROPER NUTRITION TO START THE DAY OFF RIGHT
Our target demographic is children ages six months to six years. One bowl of Vita Kidz has 70 percent of a child's nutritional needs including protein, Omega 3, calcium, iron, folate, fiber, and vitamins A, C, and D. Our new SuperV blend has all the same great ingredients and 100 percent of a child’s daily need. Double the standard child’s portion to provide an adult with a healthy instant meal.
WIDER DISTRIBUTION TO REACH MORE MINISTRY PARTNERS
Both SuperV and Vita Kidz Porridge have a longer shelf-life than OTB hot meals. Bulk deliveries on a less frequent basis will allow OTB to reach new ministry partners where our hot meals cannot be delivered.
INCREASED CAPACITY AT THE PAARL, SUPER KITCHEN
The Instant Meals/Porridge Project increases menu options for potential clients. SuperV and Vita Kidz will pave the way for additional new facility projects as new relationships with ministry partners are established.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH JOB CREATION
Each OTB employs nationals for each of its facilities thereby reducing unemployment in the communities in which the facility is located. Employing up to 15 employees per shift, a typical facility will include management staff, customer service representatives, operators, maintenance staff, security personnel and distribution staff. Paying living wages to all staff is standard practice and OTB facilities in a community significantly impacts many families. Each OTB.Global facility has a focus on gender integration with over 50% of its staff made up of women. There is consistent and compelling evidence that when the status of women is improved in a community, poverty is reduced.
